Small circles, many hands, and a path in

Since October 2021 we have held about 20 group ceremonies with roughly 190 participant seats. Circles are kept small, typically 6 to 14 participants, and every participant is supported by spaceholders who have completed at least 16 weeks of Level 1 and Level 2 Training.

How we hold the space

  • Every spaceholder has completed a minimum of 16 weeks of Level 1 and Level 2 Training
  • Sacrament offered during ceremony is a choice between average-potency, member-cultivated sacrament or wild-harvested sacrament positively identified by a state-certified wild mushroom expert
  • At least three trained spaceholders serve as drivers in the rare case of an emergency
  • Participants in Level 1 and Level 2 ceremonies are grouped in trios of buddies for additional support, with escorts available throughout the ceremony
  • All participants have completed 4 weeks of Foundations training developed by the church and have attended a number of community connection opportunities
  • No one departs ceremony before the closing integration circle
  • The sacrament is the only substance partaken in during ceremony, and this includes cannabis
  • The sacrament is never sold, only gifted in reciprocity; donations support lodging, meals and coordination

$3,000 to $14,000+per person, plus airfare

About a week of lodging, meals and usually three sessions abroad, followed by a time-limited integration program once you are home.

Psanctuary Church

A year of belonging
About $600first year: $350 Foundations membership plus a $250 minimum ceremony donation

Weekly Sunday services, 4 weeks of Foundations training, a preparation call, morning circles, an integration call, spaceholders trained 16+ weeks at about 1.8 participants each, and a community that stays. The sacrament is never sold, only gifted in reciprocity; donations support lodging, meals and coordination.

Outside prices change often and vary by provider. Figures for licensed programs and retreats come from published reporting and provider websites, listed in the notes below.

Training programs

Members learn to hold space for themselves, then for others

Our trainings prepare members as peer spaceholders: people trained in religious liberty, safe practice and holding space for one another. Since 2023 more than 300 people have completed a Psanctuary training.

How training paths compare

Academic certificates, state licenses and church trainings prepare people for different callings. Here is what each one asks and where it leads, using published figures as of October 2026.

CIIS certificate, California

$8,900 to $9,400about 150 hours over 8 weekends

For licensed clinicians, clergy, chaplains and advanced-degree holders. Breathwork, guided imagery and role-play. Leads to a professional credential; practice depends on your license and state law.

Naropa University certificate, Colorado

$5,000200 hours over 8 months

For counselors, psychologists, medical providers, chaplains and social workers. Role-play, contemplative practice and observing clinical trial sessions. Leads to a certificate of completion for professional practice.

State facilitator license, Oregon or Colorado

$10,000+plus about $900 to $2,000 a year to stay licensed

120 to 150 training hours plus a hands-on practicum. Leads to facilitating for paying clients, only inside that state’s licensed centers.

Psanctuary Level 1 and Level 2

For your own practice and the people you love
$550 and $650member rates; $1,095 as a bundle. 16+ weeks with live calls with Eric

Level 1 builds a sincere personal practice. Level 2 prepares you to hold space for friends and family and to serve as a spaceholder at church ceremonies, within a community that continues after the course ends.

The academic and state curricula we reviewed teach through role-play, breathwork and observation, and none list a guided sacrament experience as part of training. Non-member rates for Psanctuary trainings are $750 and $850.

Weekly church life

Most of Psanctuary happens between ceremonies

Ceremonies are a few weekends a year. The rest of the year, members gather for Sunday services, workshops, integration circles and in-person gatherings.

In-person circles

In the six months before August 2025, members gathered for 24 in-person circles across Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana, including Death Cafés, with 128 registrations.

What members say about Sunday

Of roughly 150 written comments after Sunday services between late 2024 and mid 2025, about 80% were entirely positive. The most praised part is the small breakout circles, where members say the real depth happens.

Member-led clubs and gatherings

Much of our community life is started and held by members themselves, not by staff. Members host clubs, circles and meetups on our member calendar, online and in their own towns.

How we measure

We report what a spiritual community can stand behind

Some ceremony providers publish symptom reduction rates. Psanctuary is a church, and our members come for spiritual growth, community and healing intentions of their own. So we measure what we can speak to with integrity, and we show you our sample sizes.

What we track

Membership, attendance, ceremony and training participation, and how cared for, prepared and connected members feel.

What we do not claim

We do not publish diagnostic or symptom outcomes. Our surveys are voluntary reflections from members, not clinical measures.

How we show our work

Every chart names how many people it comes from and when. Where our records are thin, we say so in the notes below.

Notes on the data
  1. Membership counts come from our verified roster of September 15, 2026. "People who have held membership" combines current and past member records since 2021 and is approximate, since some people left and rejoined.
  2. Ceremony counts are drawn from registration records and survey dates. Records before late 2023 are incomplete, so early figures are conservative.
  3. Survey results are voluntary and self-selected. Before and after connection scores come from different respondents and are indicative, not a matched study.
  4. Training enrollments are counted by cohort, 2023 through August 2025. The graduate total reflects our board's reported figure.
  5. Workshop and integration call counts come from our church calendars and include only live group calls, not Sunday services or one-on-one calls.
  6. Comparison figures: Oregon median from Mind Medicine Law (August 2026); Colorado estimates from My Denver Therapy (2025, updated 2026); retreat ranges from Healing Maps (2026) and MycoMeditations’ published 2026 rates. Psanctuary figures reflect our current Foundations membership and minimum ceremony donation.
  7. Training comparison: CIIS figures from CIIS and PsyReflect (2026); Naropa figures from Blossom’s program listing (verified March 2026); Oregon licensing costs from Healing Maps (2026); Colorado licensing costs from Stateline (2025).
  8. Member-led gatherings are counted from past events on our Mighty Networks member calendar, March 2025 to October 2026, excluding staff-led workshops and calls. Club meetings held outside the calendar are not counted.
  9. Quotes are shared with permission and without names.
